Why work for CT?

If you’re looking for a job where you will contribute massively to your local community, we’d like to hear from you.

Seeing a family move into their first home. Helping an older person get out of the house. That’s when its real.

At CT you’ll get to experience lots of moments like these. That’s because we’re changing things for the better. From your very first day we want to make sure you have the skills to be brilliant and feel part of our team. You’ll learn more about us, our values, as well as understanding where you fit in and why you are so important to helping us to achieve what we set out to do.

Our founder, Bryan Scrivener, started Community Transport in 1964 with a small band of volunteers who were passionate about supporting their local community, and what an impact they had!

Fast forward 55 years, and we continue to be an integral part of numerous communities through the North East, with our team of over 150 employees and volunteers.

Our founders’ passion remains true as we continue to provide affordable furniture and household goods, accessible transport and are continuously up-skilling the community with training.

Equality and Diversity Statement

At CT we don’t just accept difference, we support and celebrate it, for the benefit of our services, team members and communities. Our goal is to continue operating with a diverse workforce which is representative of the communities we support. CT is committed to providing a safe working environment where team members bring their whole self, and are able to realise their full potential and contribute to Charity’s success.

Our recruitment practices reflect these ongoing aspirations, as application forms/CVs are anonymised (removing any data which may contribute to bias) before being shortlisted. Though we do ask for details which are covered under the Equality Act 2010, this is for reporting purposes and will not be taken into account when choosing a successful applicant. We will always aim to recruit the best person for the job, based on the skills, experience and contribution they will bring to the Charity, allowing us to continue supporting many local communities for years to come.
