CT Life
Last year, our volunteers gave more than 24,000 hours of their time, skills and passion to support Community Transport. Without our volunteers, we wouldn’t have such a positive impact on our Passengers and Customers.
Volunteering with CT provides an opportunity to learn new skills, enjoy new experiences, meet new friends, enhance your well-being, as well as helping to support your local community.
If you’ve got some free time, can you spare a few hours a week to volunteer and give something back to your community? We have a wide range of volunteering opportunities available.
You can offer as much time as you like, fitting volunteering into your plans and around other things.
Many of our minibus passengers find it difficult to get out of their own home for a variety of reasons. It could be that they don’t have their own car or can’t drive anymore, have poor mobility and find it difficult to use public transport or live in an area with poor transport links.
It can be difficult for them to get out and about. This can lead to feelings of isolation, loneliness, and a lack of independence. Some of our passengers just need a hand to get out and about, to do what they need to do. Our staff, volunteers and our services are a lifeline for many, enabling them to participate in their communities and access vital services.
CT Passenger always needs more volunteers across the North East, opportunities include:
CT Furniture collects pre-owned furniture and electrical items to redistributes them at affordable prices to individuals and families across the North East. We help individuals and families to make a house into a home. We have a range of furniture retail stores across these areas, but also sell lots of household items and office furniture online via our website and other platforms such as eBay, Gumtree and Facebook.
The help we provide to local communities and businesses by getting them to donate their unwanted household and office furniture diverts items from landfill and encourages reuse of items, which has significant benefits to the environment. We collect these unwanted items and find them a new life.
CT Furniture has a wide range of opportunities for volunteering, our volunteers help with everything in our stores and warehouses, our offices and out on the vans, including:
We are now also looking for fashion conscious volunteers for our North East sites. The new clothes department at our Gateshead store is a big change, as we are now expanding to selling non-furniture items too. Do you have a passion for fashion? We need your help as a retail volunteer. Can you help build our TikTok profile and reach those who want to make a sustainable change?
Volunteering with CT is an excellent way for you to give back to your local community, and gives you the opportunity to meet people, build your confidence, learn new skills and gain work experience for employment.
Whether you have a specific skill or interest or just want to try something new, we there is something for everyone.
If you are interested in any of our volunteering roles, please contact us.
Our existing volunteers are from a very broad cross-section of society, and with varied ages and backgrounds. Some are retired but want to keep active, others are working but have a few hours free on a certain day and they want to help out. We have some volunteers who are students and want to put what they have learned at college or university into practice and gain valuable workplace experience while they make a difference.
