Gift Aid
What is Gift Aid?
Gift Aid is a scheme that allows charities to reclaim tax on a donation made by a UK taxpayer, which means it will increase the value of your donation to us by 25% at no extra cost to you. If you Gift Aid your donated goods we can claim back from the Government a further 25p for every £1 you donate to us.
So when we sell a donated piece of furniture or similar item through one of our stores or online, we can claim Gift Aid on the sales price we receive from the purchaser.
This additional income really does make a big difference, so please don’t forget to Gift Aid your donations if you are a UK tax payer.
For Gift Aid to work you must have paid sufficient UK Income or Capital Gains Tax in that financial year to cover all your donations in the tax year. If you would like to support us in this way, please let us know that you’d like to Gift Aid your donation and provide brief details gift-aid. A member of our team will be in touch shortly. Alternatively, if you are already in the process of donating items to us and would like to complete the Gift Aid declaration, you can download it here, then scan it and email it to us at donations@communitytransport.org
